Short answer
Zeyar paint markers come from Ningbo Zhengya Stationery in China and are sold in three main lines: water-based acrylic paint pens (extra fine, 12 to 48 colors) for paper, rocks and crafts, oil-based paint markers (fine and extra fine sets) for glass, metal, ceramic and other slick surfaces, and jumbo 15 mm water-based markers for posters and big lettering. Choose water-based for art and kids, oil-based for surfaces that need grip.
Who makes Zeyar paint markers?
Zeyar’s company site belongs to Ningbo Zhengya Stationery Co., Ltd. It says its inks are divided into water-based and oil-based types, both with no odor and environmentally friendly, that all its products conform to certifications including SGS, ASTM D-4236, EN71-3 and EN71-9, and that its factory passed BV, UL and Amazon factory audits. We have not checked those certificates ourselves.

Water-based or oil-based Zeyar?
| Water-based acrylic | Oil-based | |
|---|---|---|
| Smell | Mild | Solvent smell, even if labeled low odor; ventilate |
| Cleanup while wet | Water | Solvent |
| Paper and card | Good | Usable, can show through thin paper |
| Rocks and wood | Good; seal for outdoors | Good |
| Glass, metal, glazed ceramic | Washes or scratches off unless sealed | Grips once dry |
| Kids | Better choice | Adult use |

Using extra fine paint pens well
- Shake and prime. Shake until the mixing ball rattles, then press the tip on scrap until paint flows.
- Light pressure. Extra fine tips push in if pressed hard, especially on rough stone.
- Short strokes on rough surfaces. Stone and raw wood catch fine tips; go slowly.
- Dry between layers. Painting over damp paint lifts it.
- Seal what gets handled. A clear spray protects rocks, mugs used as decor and outdoor work.
More fine tips across brands are on fine tip paint markers.
Zeyar jumbo markers
Zeyar’s jumbo markers have a 15 mm felt tip and water-based acrylic paint, per the listing, and are sold for plastic, posters, stone, metal and glass. A tip that wide lays down a lot of paint, so shake well, prime on cardboard and work in long strokes. Compare jumbo options on jumbo paint markers.

Questions people ask
Are Zeyar paint markers oil-based?
Some are. Zeyar sells oil-based paint markers in fine and extra fine sets, and separate water-based acrylic paint pens and jumbo water-based markers. The listing title says which, so check for “oil-based” or “water based” before buying.
Are Zeyar paint markers good for rock painting?
Zeyar markets both its water-based and oil-based sets for rock painting. We have not found an independent hands-on review, so we cannot rank them. Water-based pens are easier for kids and layering; oil-based pens grip slick stones better but smell and need ventilation. Seal rocks either way.
What does AP certified mean on Zeyar markers?
The AP (Approved Product) seal comes from ACMI, the Art and Creative Materials Institute, and marks products certified in a toxicological evaluation by a medical expert as containing no materials in sufficient quantities to be toxic or injurious to humans, including children. Several Zeyar listings say the sets are AP certified.
