Short answer

Tanmit acrylic paint markers come in dual tip sets: brush plus fine (24 and 48 colors) for lettering and painterly strokes, dot plus fine (24 colors) for dot art and mandalas, and metallic dual tips (32 colors) for black paper and scrapbooks. The listings sell them for fabric, rock, wood, glass, eggs and scrapbooks. Treat them as craft markers: test on your surface, layer once dry, and seal rocks and anything that will be handled.

What dual tip markers are good at

A dual tip set gives you two marks per pen, which is why budget brands favor it. The fine tip handles outlines, lettering and details; the second tip does the bigger job.

More dual tip options are on dual tip acrylic markers, and brush tips on brush tip paint markers.

Direct ink vs pump markers

Tanmit’s listings do not say whether the pens are pump action or direct ink, so check the instructions in the box. Many budget dual tip acrylic markers are direct ink, ready to write without pumping. Sarah Renae Clark found that direct ink markers are generally easy to use and fine on paper, but in her tests several did not hold up as well on rocks and plastic as pump-action markers (direct ink review). If rocks are your main surface, compare with the picks on paint pens for rock painting.

Getting good results with Tanmit markers

  1. Swatch the set

Make a color chart on scrap, using both tips. It shows real colors and which tip each pen has.

  2. Light pressure on the brush

Brush tips fray when pressed hard on rough surfaces such as stone and raw wood.

  3. Base coat rough surfaces

On dark or porous stone and wood, a coat of acrylic paint first helps colors stay bright.

  4. Let layers dry

Painting over damp paint lifts it. Wait until the first layer is dry to the touch.

  5. Seal what gets handled

Spray a clear sealer on rocks, mugs used as decor and anything that will be touched or go outside.

Questions people ask

Are Tanmit acrylic paint markers good?

They are budget dual tip sets with lots of colors, aimed at crafts. We have not found an independent hands-on review of Tanmit, so we cannot rank them. In Sarah Renae Clark’s reviews of similar direct ink acrylic markers, many were easy to use and fine on paper but weaker on rock and plastic than pump-action markers.

What is the difference between Tanmit brush tip and dot tip sets?

Both have a fine tip at one end. The brush tip set has a flexible brush at the other, for lettering with thick and thin strokes and for filling shapes. The dot set has a round dot tip, which stamps even circles for dot mandalas, polka dots and dot art on rocks.

Do Tanmit markers work on fabric?

The listings name fabric among the surfaces. As with any acrylic marker on fabric, prewash the item, put card inside to stop bleed through, let the paint dry fully and heat set it from the reverse without steam. Test on a hidden spot first, and wash inside out on a gentle cycle.

Do I need to seal Tanmit markers on rocks?

Yes, if the rock will be handled or go outside. Let the paint dry fully, then spray two or three light coats of clear sealer. Spray the first coat rather than brushing it, because a brush can drag water-based marker paint.
